ANNOUNCING A NEW UNIVERSITY IN MALAWI
A new independent and private university, Sindima Memorial Institute of Arts and Technology, will open this coming August 2012. Sindima Memorial Institute of Arts and Technology will offer both graduate and post graduate programmes in its six faculties: Humanities, Business, Life Sciences, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, and Allied Health Sciences. The university will offer a total of 150 degree programmes: 75 baccalaureate degrees, 45 masters, and 30 doctoral programmes.

The premier university will admit 1,000 residential, nonresidential, and Saturday only students. The students will be traditional and mature students. The student body is planned to rise to 3,500 by 2015.
The campus of the university is under construction 54 km north of Blantyre, 4km from Mdeka on the Matope road.

Vice-Chancellor Installation Ceremony
20 November, 2011

The Board of Sindima Memorial Institute installed Ambassador Silas Ncozana, Ph.D. as the first Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The Ceremony was held at Colgate University, Hamilton, NY USA.

Approval Received 15 June 2005 The Malawi Secretary of Education approved and granted BNRP permission to build a university Sindima Memorial Institute of Arts and Technology.

13 August 2005. The groundbreaking ceremony for Sindima Memorial Institute of Arts and Technology took place. The Secretary and top Ministry officials from the headquarters and district education attending the ceremony. The Secretary himself participated in the groundbreaking with me.

24 August 2005. Sindima Memorial Institute of Arts and Technology received recognition from the ministry.
